"OK, I'm only on chapter 2 and you've already blown my mind. Now I finally understand something that was just beyond my grasp and now is fully within my range of vision!!!! I've got to tell you, I can't put this book down, and yes, I'm taking "movement breaks" right now. This is so awesome I'm going to be telling EVERYONE about it. Amanda, thank you so much for this book. It's a lifestyle I USED to have, and one I'm going to embrace once more. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU." Book ReviewsAngela R: "I thoroughly enjoyed reading it! I'm buying 7 more copies for presents for some of my friends. The red, white and black cover is very eye catching and dynamic and invites you to pick the book up. The style is fresh and positive. I love the frequent invitations to move my beautiful body. This book is a gentle reminder to keep moving and stay as healthy as possible. It suggests small changes that have a huge impact on our health: Age without Pain!" Amazon Customer: "Great book on how to get more movement in your day, whether you are actively working out every day and if you are sedentary, or think you move a lot. You will be surprised. It's an easy read and informative, backed by credible references and written by a very knowledgeable author. This book needs to be read by everyone! I workout 5 days a week for an hour; I was amazed at how much I sit or stand. If you are someone e that needs inspiration to get more movement in your day, Amanda can certainly help you and you are going to feel better. Promise!" Lydia: "This book is amazing! Amanda makes it so easy to add more movement to your day. I love the concept on nudges and creating new habits to make it more sustainable and long-lasting." Kindle Edition Reader: "A great little gem! Filled with practical ideas of how you can add more movement to your day. I especially like the suggestion of a health SMOKE break at work: Sedentary & Movement Optional Kills Early. The author point out how it's socially acceptable for smokers to take a break, yet it's not as socially acceptable to take a movement break at work. As a personal trainer, I'm always trying to encourage my clients to move more outside of their traditional exercise time. I'd totally recommend this book if you're need more ideas on how to do this, whether for yourself or your clients." |
Google ReviewsMicheline: “I have been taking group Essentrics classes with Amanda for the past year and find them very useful, notably for posture. Amanda always makes sure that participants do the exercises correctly and proposes adjustments (and also follows up after the class with suggestions) for those with specific limitations or injuries. She is professional yet pleasant and knows how to motivate participants. I enjoy the classes and always feel good afterwards.”
Retire-at-Home Ottawa: “We have worked with Amanda on a number of occasions with our clients. Amanda is very professional and knowledgeable, but also fun and easy to work with. I would recommend her for anyone in need of physical fitness programs in Ottawa!” Janet: “I’m 71 and have been taking Amanda’s Essentrics classes for 3 years (2 of which following cancer treatment and a broken ankle). It’s made a difference improving my posture and strengthening my body, especially my ankles, feet and legs. In-home personal training with Amanda allows her to provide advice on my specific issues and correct my positioning during exercises with a goal to improving my balance and flexibility. Time spent with Amanda is worth its weight in gold and is a major part of my good health.” Lyse: "Amanda is an amazing instructor. She gives clear directions and corrects your alignment when necessary. Essentrics is a great exercise regimen and she is an excellent practitioner. I also love her playlists and her sense of humour." |
"I have been taking group Essentrics classes with Amanda since June 2014. Her classes are small, allowing her to observe her students’ movements and make corrections, and also to provide modifications for particular physical limitations. This summer I decided to book some private training with her so she could help me work on my form and some physical issues in a one-on-one format. In particular, I am working on regaining strength, mobility and range of motion following hip replacement surgery in November 2015 and also have some nagging shoulder issues.
Proper positioning and form are very important with Essentrics in order to gain maximum benefit from the exercises and avoid injury. Amanda arrived at our first session with a list of areas she thought we should work on, based on observing me in class and her awareness of my specific concerns. She arrives at our sessions with a plan, is very focussed and professional and provides lots of direction and feedback. When I do Essentrics on my own at home, I can hear Amanda’s gentle but firm reminders and corrections and I am much more aware of what I need to do to improve my technique.
This is proving to be an invaluable investment in my health and fitness. Money well spent!" -Mary-Lynn
