NEW! Fitness for Fall Prevention: A Seniors' Home-Based Exercise Plan
Falls are the leading cause of injury, emergency room visits, and hospitalizations for seniors in North America. In this interactive workshop, participants will learn how to incorporate foundational exercises into their daily lives to improve their balance and prevent falls. The exercises don’t require special equipment or the need to get on the floor. Each exercise also includes modifications on how to make it easier or harder, depending on abilities.
With the guidance in the workshop and book, seniors can:
- Improve their balance, 15 to 30 seconds at a time
- Learn how to engage more muscles when they sit and stand, and
- Practice good walking mechanics using common household recycling items like empty paper towel tubes.
Pricing: Two pricing options available
1. $150 + HST ($169.50) At the end of the workshop, participants will have the option to purchase copies of Balance and Your Body: How Exercise Can Help You Avoid a Fall. The book includes all of the exercises that are covered in the workshop, with step-by-step instructions and illustrations. The book on its own is $18.95 + HST — $21.41 if you pay cheque or e-transfer, and $22 if paid by credit card.
2. $30 + HST ($33.90) per person, and each participant receives a signed copy of Balance and Your Body: How Exercise Can Help You Avoid a Fall. A minimum of 5 participants is required to run the workshop.
